Qualifying for a Green Mortgage
Anyone who can qualify for a FHA or VA loan will qualify for an energy efficient mortgage. Loan qualifications remain exactly the same as the program you are applying for. The only exception to this is a good one. For those who have borderline debt-to-income ratios, this will work to your advantage by adding an additional 2% to the ratio.
As for specifics to qualifying, each mortgage program differs from the other. Your loan officer will review your application and credit and then will be able to guide you as to the best mortgage program to apply for your specific situation.
